Your journey with Happy Kids dental as a referred patient
Welcome to Happy Kids Dental - our wonderful team is looking forward to welcoming you to our practice.
Marylebone is the home of our referrals; we see the majority of our referral patients here as we have more availability and offer a discounted initial examination with our Paediatric team.
We also have a practice in Chelsea where our lip and tongue tie patients are seen.
You can find our fees for both of our practices below

How does it work?
- Referral
Your child will need to be referred by your local dentist using the page reserved for dental professionals which can be found here.If your child has been referred, rest assured we will contact you within 48h to book an appointment and answer any questions you might have. You can also contact us on 020 7078 0822 or contact our referral coordinator on ashley@happykidsdental.co.uk.If you require urgent assistance, please make sure to mention to our team that your child has been referred.
If your child has not referred by a dental professional you can find the new patient booking link here.
- Full Oral Health Assessment
All of our lovely referral patients require a full dental assessment carried out by our team before any treatment is completed. This is a legal requirement and cannot be omitted. During this appointment the clinician will take x-rays if necessary and discuss if sedation is recommended. Our referral team will discuss the options with you in more depth upon receiving your child’s referral. If your child has been referred for IV sedation, treatment under General Anaesthesia or complex surgical treatment, the initial assessment will cost £300 and be under the care of our consultants.

- Treatment
After the assessment, the dentist will discuss in detail the treatment plan they have created for your child. They will go over options available, the costs involved and answer any questions you may have.Anxious patients greatly benefit from acclimatisation and hygiene appointments. This contributes to the success of treatment appointments as your child will build trust with our team and improve cooperation. We offer several different types of sedation methods which also help your child feel more relaxed when having treatment. Should the clinician feel, your child would benefit from sedation they will discuss this with you.
We offer Inhalation Sedation, IV Sedation or treatment under General Anaesthesia which all require two stage consent to be completed on different days.
- Finance
We offer zero-deposit and zero-interest finance for any treatment above £500.We work with the finance company Tabeo. The application process is very simple and can all be done online in 15minutes. Once complete they will let you know if you are successful. You can use our finance calculator here to see what repayments would look like.
- Treatment Complete
Upon completion of the treatment, your child will be discharged back into the care of your local referring dentist for continuation of care and regular check-ups. Rest assured; we are more than happy to welcome you back, should your local dentist need to refer again. You and your dentist will receive a discharge letter and any x-ray taken at our practice.
Referral Patient FAQs
Please direct your local dentist to our referral page for dental professionals.
Here they are able to submit a secure online referral and our referral team will reach out to you to discuss booking an appointment.
Our online portal is where we keep your local dentist updated on your child’s progress and once you have completed treatment with us, we will discharge your child back to their good care.
If you do not have a referral for your child from a dental professional, you are more than welcome to book online as a new patient by clicking here.
If you would like your dentist to refer you instead, please direct them to this page.
Our paediatric team will assess your child with a completely different approach and may be able to offer you different options that your dentist might not be able to provide.
A good comparison would be a GP, who can read your blood test and prescribe treatment or give general advice, but you will be referred to a heart or liver specialist for more in-depth consultation.
In some cases, we need to take x-rays or intraoral scans to be able to give a comprehensive evaluation. These scans might not be available at your local dentist; however, they might be crucial for proper diagnosis.
For treatment under any type of sedation we require a two-stage consent completed on separate days, this is a legal requirement.
We need to discuss fees and explain the process so we are able to set your child up for a successful visit.
A Consultant Paediatric Dentist is typically needed for more complex or severe dental problems. A consultant has further extended their training (usually an additional 2-3 years beyond specialist training) and has unparalleled level of expertise. Our consultants are able to offer sedation options that are suitable for most needs, including IV sedation and general anaesthesia.
As a parent you can be reassured that your child is getting the best level of care.
IV sedation can be carried out at our practice by paediatric dentist or consultant and a sedation team. It is conscious sedation which will make your child feel sleepy and relaxed. Due to the nature of the sedation, sometimes we would need more than one appointment to complete treatment.
IV sedation is available for children from 6years of age, while treatment under General Anaesthesia can be done for children under the age of 6.
Dental treatment completed under general anaesthetic is carried out by our consultant in a hospital setting. You child will be asleep and under the care of a consultant anaesthetist. We carry out all treatment in one go so your child wakes up with full dental health.
Where possible we aim to use the lesser sedation method however we will always prioritise your child's needs and consider what is best for them. In some cases, certain sedation methods may not be offered if the clinician does not think your child, is a suitable candidate.
Although we are the same company our appointment books are not linked. To avoid any confusion between practices we keep our patients under one clinician’s and practice’s care.
Patients are referred for a multitude of reasons. The most common are:
- Hypomineralisation
- Pre cooperative patients
- Trauma
- Complex medical conditions
- Anxiety
- Learning difficulties
- Special needs
- Negative phobia
- Tongue or lip tie
- Orthodontic treatment
- Multidisciplinary cases
- Hypodontia
- Complex dental conditions
- Surgical treatment
Whilst we appreciate you have enjoyed your visits with us, due to continuity of care and professional courtesy we are required to discharge you back into your local referring dentist’s care.
