Intravenous (IV) sedation is available to children over 6 years old at Happy Kids Dental
Bridging the gap between local and general anaesthetic, IV sedation is a relatively new technology that provides excellent pain relief and is especially effective for anxious patients.
At Happy Kids Dental, we may recommend IV sedation for complex or time-consuming cases; for children with special needs; or for any child who is very nervous about receiving a dental procedure.
Our dentists will always have your child’s best interests at heart and we will speak to both parents and children about the options available, using kid-friendly language.
IV Sedation at Happy Kids Dental
Available from your central London dentist, IV sedation is injected directly into a vein and combines anaesthetic (numbing), analgesic (pain relief) and sedative. As well as experiencing no pain, your child will feel relaxed and very sleepy, though they can be roused if the dentist needs to speak to them.
Their vital signs - heart rate, breathing, and oxygen level - will be monitored by sedationist throughout.
The added benefit of IV sedation is its amnesiac effect – this means, after treatment, your child will have little or no memory of the experience and will likely believe that they slept through the whole procedure.

This is when Dr. Dania or Dr. Prabhleen will be able to formulate a treatment plan and walk you through the IV process in great detail.
All IV sedations at Happy Kids Dental are provided by a dental sedationist who has more than 15 years of experience working with children.
